SOS – Celebrating 20 Years of
Service in 2005!
2004 SPECIAL NEEDS PLEDGE DRIVE
January, 2004
Dear Friend of SOS:
DUE TO EXCELLERATED GROWTH SOS URGENTLY REQUESTS YOUR
CONTINUING SUPPORT!
Your SOS International Clearinghouse,
strategically located in the media and entertainment
capital
of the world: Hollywood, California – in the famed
Center for Inquiry-West on Hollywood
Boulevard – urgently needs your tax deductible donation
to respond to its unprecedented growth in
America and throughout the world!
A spacious events and meeting hall and a
proscenium stage serve as venues for SOS local, national
and international events. The Center for Inquiry-West
facility features numerous counseling and
conference multipurpose rooms, a full kitchen and
banquet hall, SOS archives, museum, library,
and a gated parking lot.
The multipurpose home for numerous SOS events and
activities for the recovery and humanist
communities has hosted numerous recovery meetings,
workshops, dances, potluck suppers, music
festivals, comedy and magic shows, theatrical
presentations, recovery-related seminars including
the SOS “Alternatives in Recovery” International Seminar
in the summer of 2004.
Free, anonymous SOS meetings continue to flourish
worldwide, our 2004 SOS International
Conference held October 2 nd in New York City at the
renowned Albert Ellis Institute, was also a great
success!
We're continuing to expand our outreach efforts
to prison and judicial systems across America.
Many who seek a non-religious support system of recovery
have been forced by judicial and prison
systems to attend 12-step support groups. Now the courts
are recognizing the religious nature of
such organizations and mandating that an alternative be
provided…much to the relief of those who
are our companions in secular sobriety. We currently
have hundreds of SOS meetings in all
facilities of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice
and in correctional facilities throughout the
United States (see www.sosbehindbars.com).
SOS, your organization, continues in its effort to be
self-supporting. Yet, we are still reliant on the
largess of the Center for Inquiry-International for much
of our operating expense. Each year we
have come closer to self-support. We rely on your
contribution to continue the effort to serve those
who seek support from SOS.
Please make your tax-deductible donation today. Your
contribution keeps SOS going and growing.

Recovery from addiction is a difficult and often lonely

provided companionship in recovery for countless
thousands of people. Please continue in
providing that companionship.
Yours in Recovery,
Jim
